Mushishi Zoku Shou: Course of Thorns
Darkness and isolation were the major topics of “Course of
Thorns.” Easy usage of more than a number of shades of shadowy background, single self-discipline composition (the hut), and gradual tilt motion communicated these topics powerfully.

While shots of darkness dominated this double episode, the
extra interesting section is the usage of tiny gentle, particularly candle gentle. If
the shots were constantly darkish, it may well perhaps beginning feeling monotonic and lose that
haunting set up. The shots of candle gentle present distinction that abet exaggerate
the darkness. Shedding that tiny quantity of gentle is extra haunting than fixed
darkness.

The above shots are so straight forward yet very efficient. Within the
first image, Kumado is searching on the door and waiting for it to go begin.
This conveys his feeling of isolation and how he seeks proper a like a flash relief from
it. This sets up the second shot, where the target audience presumably assumes that
he’s again waiting, which makes the prick to his soulless physique extra unsettling.

All yet again, the above photos are proper straight forward but right
composition. By having the characters off center (Rule of Thirds) we rep a
better sense of space. These shots illustrate the emptiness, seclusion and
gloom Kumado is going via.
